Pirfo still missing

Posted in Life at Cornell by Cornell's Most Infamous on May 3rd, 2005.

It’s been over a week since Dan Pirfo went missing from his dorm room, and there is still no news. At this point, the only logical conclusion to be reached is that something fatal has happened to him, be it another Cornell University suicide, or simply an accidental death. As any Cornell students knows, there’s plenty of history here:

So, with this brief history, you might want to take Mike Harrison’s words to heart:

Now I don’t want to diminish the tragic nature and extremely depressing quality of student deaths, but I guess if there’s one thing you should realize before you come to Cornell, it’s that your chances of dying here are pretty much the same as they are anywhere else. Man, I really hope your parents get a chance to read this.

There’s nothing worse than not knowing what happened. Never give up hope… stranger things have happened, but let’s all pray for closure for the sake of his family and friends. Everyone here at Cornell is deeply moved and concerned for Dan’s wealthfare.

Hope he’s ok and find. May he return home safely.

This is a real shame that he would be “missing.” It is very unlikely that a person who got admitted to Cornell –unless an alumni child– would just chose to disappear. (i.e. alumni children have 18% reserved spots for them under university admission policies). Either Mr. Piro got very frightened, and could conclude that disappearing before Finals would be best.. or there is something wrong, and an unexplained occurrance followed.

    This is very tragic.

While this is not a key element to this blog, however, I would like to say, as Scot Elwood’s little sister, that I am offended that you put that he “inadvertantly” jumped into the gorge.
It WAS inadvertant. There is no doubt about that, & there is no need to put quotations around that word, b/c that is what happened. I guarantee that you don’t know the whole, if ANY, of the story of what happened to my brother. Furthermore, if you’d known anything about him, you would know that he was a wonderful person who loved life and appreciated every limited moment he had. He would never have killed himself because he realized that life is a gift.

So before you make anymore references to things that have happened in the past, I suggest you make sure that you know the truth about them, or they’re not going to prove anything.

I’d appreciate it, in fact, if you took any mention of my brother out of this blog.
