David Schlaegel Arrested For Rape
According to the Ithaca Journal, the Primary Building Coordinator for Alice Cook House, David A. Schlaegel, has been arrested for the rape of another Cornell employee. The rape, which allegedly took place in February, was only recently discovered. Schlaegel, 38 years old, lives at 40 Mallard Drive in Ithaca, NY. A cursory search of University and online records only reveals his email address, das235@cornell.edu, office phone number, 607-255-9584, and his appointment at Cornell.
Vice President for University Communications Thomas W. Bruce made the following statement to the Cornell Chronicle:
These are serious and painful charges, and we must value the privacy of the individuals involved. Cornell University is providing support to the victim, also a Cornell employee, and to others who have been affected by the alleged incident. Cornell has full confidence in the investigation being led by the Tompkins County District Attorney’s Office. We are providing our full cooperation.

Seriously? I knew David Schlaegel, he doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who would do that. I am VERY shocked and saddened…
why do we need to know his address, email, and phone number? just seems like you are trying to impress us with your ability to do routine info search on 411.com and the cornell directory when anyone can do this. do you think people want this information to send him things or call him? I guess you had nothing else to say so you decided to add some fluff to your “reporting.”
I wish to be at Cornell as a student in 2 yrs. I can’t believe this sort of thing would ever happen. Are u sure he wasn’t just protecting his privacy?

I kept the directory information here because it appears that he has been removed from the Cornell University electronic directory, and I would balk at knowing the information was lost.
How would they prove the crime? Most of the physical evidence are gone already
Nineteen reported, forcible sexual offenses took place on Cornell’s campus in 2003 and 2004 (the last year for which statistics are available). Most of these occur between students. Who knows how many such offenses were not reported.

Your lack of good punctuation skills gives you a bad name. “Schlaegel’s” does not require the use of an apostrophe as it is not possessive. It is plural and can therefore be spelled “Schlaegels”.

After some playing around in Google, I found this article. Though my last name is not spelled the same, I’m sure it is pronounced the same. Not to mention he shares my middle initial. This guy is totally a ****.

The Ithaca Journal published this story because it was sensational, but they never published the fact that the charges were DISMISSED by the court because they were without merit and lacked all credibility. They also never published the fact that there was never an indictment. This guy did NOT do this. Too much documentation shows this
How shameful this all is! I know this man personally and he is not the monster the media has made him to be. He is a God fearing, educated and well loved and respected Christian family man! The media, and the college and others were quick to jump on the band wagon and ruin this mans family name, impugn his dignity, attack his character and put his integrity in the dirt. I hope he sues the D.A., the college, the police department and the media to OFFICIALLY clear his good name and reputation. This case was dropped against him because this was a complete fabrication by the “alleged” vicitim. DISMISSED! No credible evidence to prosecute this poor man. Remember this well…”every man is considered innocent until proven guilty” by a jury of his peers! There is not a jury in the land that would be able to believe this ALLEGATION “BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT”! Every one is guaranteed their day in court to face their accuser. This NEVER made it that far because this woman took advantage of a “soft target” and managed to destroy his spirit with these heinous allegations. You, who have tried and convicted this man in the media should be ashamed of your selves! Think very very hard here. If this were your father, brother or husband would you not want this to be done by the book? Would you not be offended by the sensationalism that was attached to this “ALLEGATION”? This is a good man! Pray for him and his family that they can overcome this horrible nightmare, and furthermore pray that the woman who did this to him gets what’s coming to her according to man’s law! And don’t forget… she will some day be judged by her maker and then she will pay dearly for HER horrible sin against this man. Anyone remember the commandment that say’s “thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor”? Well you just violated that one big time there missy! His avenger will stomp you in the afterlife! I hope you burn in hell for what you have put this man and his family through! You need to be jailed for falsely reporting an incident at the very least! That is good for a year in jail and a very hefty fine. Find God, and PUBLICLY apologize to this man on TV, Radio, newspaper and the internet! Do it now!
