Free Computers for Pickup
The Engineering Library is giving away two keyboards, and a lot of about 8 old Pentium-2 Dell and HP computers. Just show up, and pick them up–they’re in the entrance:

Note the conspicuous “free” sign!
Update: All of the computers have been taken–all that is left as of 1 PM today are some old AutoCAD and Windows manuals.
Free for pickup: Snow
Several cubic yards of fresh, white snow. Farmington NY.
Snow is brand new, and has never been used for industrial or residential applications. Does not come with packaging, or EPA warning tag for ecological disposal. Though, this may be downloadable from the EPA (dot gov) web site.
Suitable for building snow forts, cooling beverages (if beverages are in container). Also suited for cooling industrial equipment, or condensors for industrial process distillation equipment. This snow is very clean, but not warranted to be food grade, and as such should not be used in direct contact with food.
Can be spread about the yard in order to make “snow forts” or “snow angels”. Can also be shaped to make housing units known as “igloos”. Suitable for children ages 2 and up, if properly dressed. I do not accept any liability for hypothermia or chills if this snow is misused.
Please email to arrange for pickup. Persons picking up should have a pickup truck, trailer, or mini van. Donor can help load vehicle if necessary, but we prefer you to bring your own containers, loading ramp, shovels, etc.
Donor will consider all recipients, and gives preference to those who reply soonest.

Northwestern to fly Ithaca
According to this blog entry, Northwestern is planning on flying into Ithaca as soon as May. The Ithaca Journal writes:
Under a pending agreement that Northwest must approve, two 34-seat turboprop planes would leave Ithaca daily — one in the early morning and one in the afternoon. The daily schedule would also include two return flights from Detroit.
“This is a wonderful milestone for Tompkins County,” Michael Lane, D-Dryden, said before the Legislature voted unanimously on Tuesday night to authorize final negotiations with Northwest. “The economic well-being of Tompkins County is so tied up with the airport and our transportation facilities.”
This is good news for all of us, as US Airways has had a monopoly on Ithaca travel for quite some time now, and their quality of service is not always the best. 20% of the time I fly there (Philadelphia to Ithaca is always bad, I hear) my bags did not make it onto the plane and had to be recovered on a subsequent flight.
